Mission

Wound Healing Associates (WHA) leads the way in providing comprehensive wound care management throughout the South Central Texas region. We strive to ensure dedicated, specialized and compassionate care to all patients, enabling them to maintain a quality of life free from wounds causing pain and threatening disability.

Scope of Service

WHA provides an outpatient program with a multi-disciplinary approach to wound healing. The healthcare providers at WHA have over 60 years of experience in wound care management, as well as board certified hyperbaric physicians. WHA uses the latest wound care products to treat both acute and chronic wounds.

We accept Medicare, Worker’s Compensation, and the majority of commercial insurances. Excluding Medicaid.

Patrick Kimbrell, MD, CWSP

Patrick Kimbrell, MD, CWSP

Fellow American Board of Wound Medicine


Patrick N. Kimbrell, MD is the President of Wound Healing Associates. Dr. Kimbrell is the Medical Director of the Institute for Advanced Wound Healing, CTMC.

A graduate of the University of Texas Health Science Center, Dr Kimbrell is Fellowship Trained in Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine. He has extensive, practical, clinical experience in complicated wound management, hyperbaric and geriatric medicine. He is published in the field of Wound Medicine, with textbook chapters, articles and research references. He holds multiple wound certifications and is a two-time Past President of the Board of San Antonio Chapter of the American Diabetes Association.

Dr. Kimbrell served 11 years in the US Air Force. His service included: Director of Clinical Operations Armstrong Laboratory, Fellowship Director at the Davis Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine Division, Professor USAF School of Aerospace Medicine, Chief Clinical Services, Izmir, Turkey and Deputy Director of Wilford Hall Tricare HMO.

Mark Robbins, DO, CWSP

Mark Robbins, DO, CWSP

Fellow American Board of Wound Medicine


Mark Robbins, D.O. is a Senior Partner in Wound Healing Associates and has over 25 years of acute and chronic wound care experience. Dr. Robbins is a certified wound specialist (CWSP); a Fellow in the American College of Clinical Wound Specialists and a Fellow of American Professional Wound Care Association.

Dr. Robbins served as a Navy Medic assigned to the Marine Corp before transferring to the US Air force as a physician where he served for 15 years, retiring with the rank of Colonel. While in the Air Force, Dr. Robbins had multiple clinical and administrative positions including Department Head of Primary Care at Wilford Hall, Chief of Medical Staff Howard AFB (Panama), Chief of Trainee Health (Lackland), Clinician at Kunsan AB (Korea), RAF Rissington (England) and Kelly AFB.

Dr. Robbins primary practice sites are the Center for Wound Healing, San Antonio, and the Center for Wound Care located in Luling Specialty Hospital.

Randy Reynolds, MD, CWSP

Randy Reynolds, MD, CWSP

Fellow American Board of Wound Medicine


Rolland C. Reynolds, Jr., MD, MPH, CWSP is a Senior Physician with Wound Healing Associates with his primary practice site at the Institute for Advanced Wound Healing, CTMC.

Dr. Reynolds is Board Certified in Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine, as a Wound Specialist with the American Board of Wound Management and in Aerospace Medicine. He is a Fellow of the American College of Certified Wound Specialists and a Fellow of the Aerospace Medical Association.

Dr. Reynolds started his career serving in the US Air Force as a B-52 pilot until 1982 when he changed career paths to enter Medical school at UTHCS-SA, He went on to complete residencies and fellowships in Family Practice, Hyperbaric Medicine and Aerospace Medicine. While in the USAF, Dr. Reynolds. served as a Chief Flight Surgeon, commanded two Air Force medical squadrons, served as a foreign exchange officer to the Royal Australian Air Force, led US medical programs that included more than 40 countries in the Asia-Pacific region and served in Iraq with the Multi-National Security Transition Command. Dr. Reynolds retired in 2009 from the USAF with the rank of Colonel.

Kenneth R. Hart, DO

Kenneth R. Hart, DO

Fellow of the American Academy of Preventive Medicine


Kenneth R. Hart, D.O. is a preventive medicine physician and has been in practice for over 50 years. Dr. Hart is Board Certified in Aerospace Medicine, American Board of Preventive Medicine, a Diplomat in the American Board of Preventive medicine, a Fellow in the American College of Preventive Medicine, and a Fellow in the Aerospace Medical Association. He received his medical degree from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences.

Dr. Hart is Fellowship trained in Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine. He has extensive, practical, clinical experience in complicated wound management and hyperbaric medicine. He is published in multiple textbooks, articles and research references. He has served as the section council representative for aerospace medicine with the American Medical Association and Chairman for multiple committees with the Aerospace Medical Association.

Dr. Hart served 26 years in the United States Air Force and retired with a rank of Colonel. While in the Air Force, Dr. Hart had multiple clinical and command positions including: .Clinic Commander, 910th TAC Clinic, Youngstown Air Reserve Base; Director, Base Medical Services, Mountain Home AFB; Residency, Aerospace Medicine, University of Texas and NASA, Houston TX. USAF School of Aerospace Medicine, Brooks AFB, TX; Chief, Medical Operations, Hyperbaric Medicine Division, USAFSAM, Brooks AFB, TX; Center Command Surgeon, Eastern Space and Missile Center, Patrick AFB; Deputy Command Surgeon, HQ Air Force Systems Command, Andrews AFB; Chief, Medical Readiness Division, Office of the Surgeon General HQ USAF; Director, Education Division, USAF School of Aerospace Medicine, Brooks AFB; and Commander, USAF School of Aerospace Medicine, Brooks AFB.

Dr. Hart's primary practice sites are at the Center for Wound Healing, San Antonio, and Wound Healing Associates private practice.
